Back Again

I'm sorry that this Blog has gone blank the last couple weeks. I got hurt on 07/27. I broke my femur on the left leg, my ankle on the right, and three knuckles on my right hand. I have been in some pain.

The next week I was operated on to reset the femur. They put in a rod, plate, and a few screws. This is all right under the ball, bolt, plate, and seven screws that hold my hip together.

I am now in Health South Rehabilitation Hospital. By the way, this is my third trip here for treatment. These folks are very good at what they do. I am not allowed to put any weight on either leg so, that cramps my physical therapy a bit for the next few weeks. It appears that by the time I heal enough to do the therapy and get myself waking again I will have been here about two months.

Not only did my fall break me in a couple pieces but, it ruined the plans we had for a fortieth wedding anniversary. We were scheduled to have our vows renewed by Elvis at the Graceland Chapel here in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 8. We had a Hawaiian theme with Elvis singing seven of hits hits from his BLUE HAWAII album.  Libby had been to a tailor and had a dress for her and a shirt for me made out of the same very bright Hawaiian cloth.  I had decided to to wear a very large and very black "Elvis" wig and silver sunglasses. All the Guests would wear some type of Hawaiian garb. So that went "down the tubes".

That part of the day was absolutely "shot in the butt" since I could not participate. What was continued for the thirty-five guests from near and far was the dinner.

We had planned with the N9NE Steakhouse at the Palm's Resort for a big dinner in a private room with a lot of flowers, beautiful dinnerware, drinks and very tasty food. This went off without a hitch. Libby hosted and kept things running smoothly from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. From what I am told everyone had a great time.

That ends our celebration of forty years of marriage. I sure an sorry I managed to mess it up. Oh well, better luck at fifty.

Oh Bill! So sorry to hear about your injury! Been there done that! I fell back in December and shattered the ball joint in my right shoulder... had surgery to replace it with a steel ball. I was in a rehab facility for a month and then out patient PT for a while after that. So I know some of what you're going through. Try to keep a positive outlook and not feel bad about missing the vow renewal ceremony. Ceremony or not you have a loving & supportive wife and that's all that matters. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Hang in there my friend! :-)

You didn't mess anything up. I'm pretty sure Libby still thinks she married the right guy. ~Mary

We're just glad your feeling up to being back online, and that you are in a great place where they'll help you while you heal. So just concentrate on getting better and getting home. And Happy Fortieth Anniversary to you and Libby!! I'm so glad she still hosted the dinner with your friends and family to mark the occasion.

Bill isn't really good with dates. He actually fell on 7/31. I know it well. :-)
