Chef Day at the Hoover House
MEET OUR CHEF MIMI,
The Chef was here by 9:00 AM PDT. She brings in all her produce, proteins, cooking supplies, and cookware. Says "hello" and begins work. By the time we leave at 9:25 AM there is already a wonderful smell wafting through the house. She likes "The Boys" and interacts with them well while we are gone. They, of course, like the attention, all the good smells, and the possibility of dropping crumbs.
Each week we send her our choices for our meals. We can have five meals that are for both of us or we can pick five meals each. She has a menu of thing that she makes for mixing and matching that we use along with requests of things we like. Each item she makes is natural and holistic. She does make suggestion on some items that she would like to change from our requests to make them more holistic. This includes using items like quinoa in place of potatoes and white rice.
We are enjoying excellent meals that are health for us. We are also both losing weight which is a fine side effect of this. Chef Mimi is make life a lot more pleasant for us.
The reason for spending the money on a Chef is our time problem at the Hyperbaric Chamber. Most of the time I am scheduled for the chamber at 3:00 PM. It takes a half our to get to the clinic, fifteen minutes to get my vitals taken and get changed, one and a half hours actually in the chamber, then another fifteen or twenty minutes to get dress and have my vitals taken again, and finally drive the half hour home. That is at least Three hours of time which gets us home at about 6:00 PM (if we are luck with drive time).
By the time we get home neither of us want to do anything but, sit. No one wants to make any form of meal. We were just ordering fast food on the way home or delivered to the house. There is nothing good in this type of lifestyle. So, to combat the exhaustion, the fast food, weight gain, and the expense we contacted a couple Personal Chefs. Of those we interviewed Chef Mimi was the best regarding education and experience. She priced competitively, very personable, and liked the dogs. So, we hired her
The Chef has been here to provide nine weeks of meals now. She cooks for us every Thursday morning. She is neat and clean at all time. She actually wears real Chef's clothing with a white jacket. I have observed her enough now to see that she is very well organized and doesn't "fool around" at all.
So, there you have it. We are eating fresh, healthy, and readily available meals. We are very happy with this arrangement. We hope that we will be able to keep this up after I stop the hyperbaric chamber and my wound has healed.

Chef Mimi sounds wonderful! I struggle so much with eating well and have often thought if I just had someone to cook for me I'd eat so much better. I wish I could afford something like this. Glad it's working out so well for you! :-)
I wish I could afford to have a chef. That’s definitely not in the budget right now. I love to cook but I like to do it for fun. I don’t enjoy doing it every night because I have. Maybe someday. I can dream can’t I? Enjoy your meals!
Oh I hope you can too! That is so nice that you are able to do that. It sounds like a wonderful service that you two are really benefiting from in more ways than one.
